Doherty Lab Visual Identity + Website Design Academic research lab — Columbia University
Projekta Design Studio collaborated with Dr. Erin Doherty to refine and expand the visual direction for the new Doherty Lab at Columbia University, creating a cohesive brand system and responsive website that communicates the lab’s research with clarity and scientific character.

The challenge
As a new research lab, Doherty Lab needed a clear and credible digital presence to introduce its mission, share research, and attract future collaborators and team members. The visual experience needed to feel scientifically grounded while remaining approachable and easy to navigate.
The approach
Building on visual elements Dr. Doherty had already developed, I refined the identity into a flexible system with updated logo variations, color palette, typography, and custom virus illustrations. The website was designed to bring the lab’s work in virus–host interactions and immune signaling into focus through strong visuals, clear hierarchy, and a concise user journey.
Deliverables
The final website gives the Doherty Lab a distinctive platform to communicate its research, grow its community, and prepare for its launch at Columbia University in 2027. It presents a clear first impression of the lab’s mission: understanding how pathogens and hosts shape immune signaling. Visit the live website

The organization of the sections showcase the lab's Research and team
The site also includes a dedicated Join Us section, designed to welcome prospective students, researchers, and collaborators and make future opportunities easy to find.
